Hey there!!

Let's take the width of the field as ' x '

Then, the length would become - 120 feet less tree times the breadth

= 3x - 120

Perimeter = Adding up all the sides

Perimeter of a rectangle = L + W + W + L

= 2L + 2W

= 2 ( L + W )

Now, let's plug in the values

= 2 ( 3x - 120 + x )

Perimeter given - 1040

Now, let's equate this :

2 ( 3x - 120 + x ) = 1040

2 ( 4x - 120 ) = 1040

Dividing by 2 on both sides

4x - 120 = 520

Adding 120 on both sides

4x = 640

Dividing by 4 on both sides

x = 160

Breadth = 160 ft.

Length = 3x - 120

= 3 ( 160 ) - 120

= 480 - 120

= 360

Length = 360 ft

Breadth = 160 ft

Hope my answer helps!
