2 Expand
12−3x=20x−7

3 Add 3x to both sides
12=20x−7+3x

4 Simplify
20x−7+3x to 23x−7
12=23x−7

5 Add 7 to both sides
12+7=23x

6 Simplify 12+7 to 19
19=23x

7 Divide both sides by 23
19/23 =x

8 Switch sides
x= 19/23
