Your equation is 2+0.5x=x( second x being the fancy one) then you 5 in for the fancy x, then you get rid of the 2 subtracting it to the other side(5), the you divide 0.5 from 3, the 5-2, then you have x =6

2+0.5x=5, 0.5x=3, x=6. -2. -2. /0.5.
