$-1.5+k=8.2\ \ \ \ |+1.5\ /\text{add 1.5 to both sides of the equation}/\\\\-1.5+1.5+k=8.2+1.5\\\\k=9.7$

1.5 should have been added to both sides of the equation—>
K = 9.7
