Explanation:

since b = 8, it has to be

y = 2x + 8

that was the whole point of the exercise, as the general slope-intercept form is

y = mx + b

you determined m = 2 and b = 8, so there is your answer. I am not sure where your problem was, as you solved the actual important part yourself.
