James took a survey in his homeroom to see what his classmates enjoy doing in their spare time. Below are the results from the 30 students in his homeroom. How many more students prefer to play sports than to read/write? (Round to the nearest tenths place if necessary)

Answer: 4.2

Explanation:

Given : Total number of students = 30

From the given pie-chart , the percentage of students prefer to play sports= 28%

Since 28% can be written as 0.28

Then, number of students prefer to play sports=
0.28*30=8.4

The percentage of students prefer to read/write = 14%

Then, number of students prefer to read/write=
0.14*30=4.2

Now, the number of students prefer more to play than sports than to read/write = 8.4-4.2=4.2

Hence, 4.2 students prefer more to play than sports than to read/write .
