The rule of product states that:


  • (+) \cdot (+) = (+)

  • (+) \cdot (-) = (-)

  • (-) \cdot (+) = (-)

  • (-) \cdot (-) = (+)

So, a product is positive if and only if both factors have the same sign, and is negative if only if the factors have opposite sign.
