The assemblies in all four royal colonies refused to pay a permanent salary to the Governors. The governors of the colonies who were appointed by the Crown entertained the power of absolute veto, and also that they could prevent and terminate the assemblies. He was the in- charge of the regulations and taxes. His decision directly affected the colonies. The role of Governor was greatly powerful, hence, to reduce the power of the Governors the assemblies refused to pay a permanent salary to the Governors.
