The sum of 5 consecutive even numbers is 200. What is the fifth number in this sequence

it is not 42 it is 44 just got the answer from my test

Remark

If you just want one of the numbers, make it x.

Equation

smallest number = x - 4

next number = x - 3

next number = x - 2

next number = x - 1

Largest number = x

Solve

(x - 4) + (x - 3) + (x - 2) + (x - 1) + x = 200 Combine the left terms

5x - 10 = 200 Add 10 to both sides

5x = 200 + 10

5x = 210 Divide by 5

x = 210/5

x = 42 Answer Largest number
