To start off you should first simplify each side.

8 * 4 / (3 - 1) start with what's in the parenthesis, so 3 - 1 is 2 then 8 * 4 is 32. So 32/2 is 16 which would give you 16/4 which is simplified to 4

Then on the other side do whats in parenthesis first, so 4 * 3 - 3 is 5 then 5+5=10 After you get 10 it is 10/2 which equals 5

Now that you have both sides simplified the problem is now 4 ? 5 So in order to make the statement true is would be 4 ∠ 5 (4 is less than 5)
