Unfair taxes angered the colonists to the point where they began to lash out and revolt.

They believed that it wasn't their fault that Britain was in debt and began to protest in the colonies, soon leading to the American Revolutionary War. Many protests such as the Boston Tea Party occurred and these continued as the unfair taxes were enacted.
