Add. 1/3 + 5 3/4 do the sum as a mixed number in simplest form.

To find this, first make the mixed number into an improper fraction. Multiply 4 and 5 and add that to 3 to get 23/4.

Now you need to get a common denominator, so you should use 12. Now you need to make the numerators associate with the denominators. You should now have an equation that looks like this:

4/12 + 69/12

Add the numerators to get 73/12 and simplify to get 6 and 1/12.
