An ordered pairs is written in the form of (x,y) where x is the x-coordinate and y is the y-coordinate.

The parent function is defined by
y=f(x), where x and y are the coordinates.

Since ordered pair (2,2) lies on the graph of the parent function we have;


2=f(2) ....(1)

The x values is always 2, so to put this value on the graph
y=f(x)+3 we have;


y=f(2)+3

Substitute the value of f(2) from (1) we get;

y=2+3

∴y=5

Therefore, the point (2,5) must lie one the graph of
y=f(x)+3.
