Osmosis is the net movement of water down the concentration gradient, whereas active transport is the movement of substances against the concentration gradient. • Osmosis does not require energy, whereas active transport does.

Osmosis is a type of passive transport, while active transport is a type of active transport; osmosis does not require any energy to move the molecules while active transport does. Osmosis also doesn't particularly happen between cell membranes or relies on transport proteins like active transport. Osmosis also only happens to water molecules, but active transport happens to every type of molecules and ions.
