An atom has a atomic number 17 and atomic mass number 35. How many neutrons are present in its nucleus

Your atomic number is also your number of protons (which is typically the same number of electrons as well, unless otherwise stated). Your atomic mass is your number of protons and neutrons. In order to find your neutrons, just subtract the mass number from the atomic number!

35 - 17 = 18 neutrons!
