Kristen lives 4 miles from her friend's house. It is 2:30 P.M. and she needs to meet her friend at 3:00 P.M. How fast must she ride her bike in order to get to her friend's house on time?

To get the answer, we first have to subtract 3:00 and 2:30 which is 30 or .5 hours

Next we just divide how many miles she needs to travel (4) by how much time she has (.5)

4 ÷ .5 = 8

She would have to ride her bike at a speed of 8 mph

Hope this helps

She must ride her bike at a rate of 8 mile per hour.

In order to find this, we first need to find how much time she has. When we subtract 2:30 from 3:00, we get 30 minutes, this translates to .5 hours. Now, we can divide the miles needed to travel by the rate.

4 miles/.5 hours = 8 mile per hour.
