PLEASE HELP!!!! (20 POINTS!)

1.) Stomach acid had a pH of 2. What would a decrease in pH in stomach acid cause and how could you remedy this?

2.) Unpolluted rainwater has a pH of 5.5, but rainwater has been recorded with pH as low as 1.5. What are some possible effects of this rainwater.

It depends on how far you decrease the pH in the stomach. Decreasing pH (adding more H+ ions) causes the acidity to decrease. More H+ ions, more acidic. You could remedy this by decreasing the hydrogen ion concentration through the use of Calcium Carbonate, an antacid.

Another thing that’s worth mentioning is blood pH. You can actually cause your blood pH to become to basic by taking too much of an antacid, causing metabolicalkalosis. Too much of an acid (maybe through diet- like the ketone diet) can cause metabolicacidosis. I’ve known one person who ended up with this condition and in the ICU because of the diet, so BE CAREFUL.
