I believe the answer is D. A heterotroph must obtain its energy from a autotroph or other heterotroph. Autotrophs only obtain their energy from the Sun.

Autotroph consist of organism that capable of doing photosynthesis so they could produce their own food. Heterotroph is organism that couldn't produce food. They have to take the food from other organism. When heterotroph take food from plants/autotroph they will be similar to herbivore. When heterotroph take food from other heterotroph they will be similar carnivore
