(a)

Let's assume

number of nickels is n

total number of coins is 21

so, number of dines will be 21-n

1 nickel =$0.05

1 dimes=$0.10

total value is 1.65

so, we can set up equation

0.05*n+0.10*(21-n)=1.65

now, we can solve for n

n=9

so, number of nickels is 9

number of dimes is 21-9=12..........Answer

(b)

we are given

value of the nickels =5n

we know that

value of dimes =2* value of nickels

so, we can plug it

value of dimes =2*5n

value of dimes =10n...............Answer
