I have no idea where to start with this problem please help! 6x+1y=8 solve for y

For this problem, you would want to subtract 6 to be able to single out the y. We flip the sign since it is being moved on to the other side.

Therefore, you should have the following.

-6x + 8 = 1y

1y is the same thing as y, therefore the final answer would be:

y = -6x + 8

Note: This type of equation is called a slope intercept form, the coefficient of x represents the slope and the number following it represents the y-intercept which both are graphed.
