Are -(x - 3) and (-x + 3) equivalent equations? please explain

First of all these are not equations ( there are no '=' signs in them).

If we simplify we see that they are equivalent.

-(x - 3) = = -1(x - 3) = -x + 3

(-x + 3) = -x + 3

Yes.

This is because if you distribute the negative symbol into the first equation (x - 3), the x will become negative just as it is in the second equation and the 3 will become positive.

This is because a negative times a negative always results in a positive.
