If you sprinkle iron fillings onto a paper with a magnet underneath, the iron fillings will be attracted by the magnet and move to where the paper and magnet connects.

When electrical current is flowing, what is produced is a magnetic field inside the coil.

1. You would see the iron filings atrracting to the magnet.

2. When electrical current is flowing would always produce moving electrons. It can also be carried by ions in an electrolyte, or by both ions and electrons such as in plasma.

Hope this helps :)
