Arshad's father bought x sweets, (44 - x) were eaten by the children and 20 were left. How many sweets did his father bring?

It is given in the question that

Arshad's father bought x sweets, (44 - x) were eaten by the children and 20 were left.

It is given that the total sweets are x .

So the equation is


44-x+20 = x

Combining like terms, we will get


64 - x  = x

Adding x to both sides


64 = 2x

Dividing both sides by 2


x = 32

THerefore Arshad's father bought 32 sweets .
