We need to find a common denominator so we can add this together.

What multiple of 8 has 3 as a factor? 2 x 8 = 16. No. 3 x 8 = 24. Yes.

So multiply 2/3 by 1 using 8/8 and 3/8 by 1 using 3/3.

16/24 + 9/24 = 25/24 or 1 & 1/24
