A 24 feet high pole casts a shadow of 8 feet long. Divide the two

24/8 = 3

To find the nearby pole's shadow length, in which the pole is 72 feet tall, divide by 3

72/3 = 24

C. 24 feet is your answer

Note: You can also solve it using ratios:

24/8 = 72/x is the ratio you will use

To solve, cross multiply

24x = 72(8)

Simplify

24x = 576

Isolate the x. Note the equal sign. What you do to one side, you do to the other. Divide 24 from both sides

24x/24 = 576/24

x = 576/24

x = 24

hope this helps
