Emperor Asoka was born a Hindu, religion que practiced until the Kalinga War in the Deccan region. All that bloodshed and violence shattered the Emperor who turned tu Buddhism. Now a once tyrannical and vengeful ruler became a peaceful and stable one. During his reign in the throne he extensively propagated buddhism inside and outside of India.
