to change an improper fraction to a mixed fraction, we simply divide the numerator by the denominator, and use the quotient and remainder, let's do so

\bf 1.4\implies \cfrac{7}{5}\implies 7/ 5\impliedby \textit{\underline{q}uotient of 1, \underline{r}emainder of 2}\implies \qquad \stackrel{q}{1}\frac{\stackrel{r}{2}}{5}
