Use the distributive property to write the expression 1/2(4x -6y) without parentheses.

1/2(4x - 6y) = 2x - 3y First you need to multiply 1/2 and 4x which is 2x, then you need to multiply 1/2 and -6y which is -3y.

to use the distributive property you need to multiply everything inside the parentheses by what is outside of the parentheses. First you would do 1/2 x 4x and you get 2x. Then you do 1/2 x -6y and you get -3y. The rewritten expression would be 2x-3y
