Can you find the square root of a negative number

No, and therefore, the answer to a negative square root will be "i" which stands for "imaginary" (a group of numbers).


Example:


√(-2) = i

Remark

Only if you define it into existence. The square root of a negative number is does not exist in the real world.

√(-1) is defined to be i

That is what is termed a complex number.
