cot = cos/sin = x/y In order for cot to be negative, then the "x" and "y" are opposite signs (-x, +y) or (+x, -y). Which quadrants do these fall in?

(-x, +y) is in Quadrant 2

(+x, -y) is in Quadrant 4

Answer: 2, 4
