(7)/(9) + ((2 * 3))/((3 * 3)) \\ (7)/(9) + (6)/(9) \\ (13)/(9)

Hey!

Here is the equation:

(7)/(9) + (2)/(3)

The denominator for the two fractions are:

9 and
3

Since they DO NOT have the same denominator, you need to change them. To do that, first find the LCM of the 2 numbers by listing their multiples and finding the common ones.

3 - 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18

9 - 9, 18, 27, 36, 45

In the multiples listed above, the common ones are 9 and 18. Since 9 is less than 18, the new denominator should be 9. Now you can change the fractions.

(7 * 1)/(9 * 1) = (7)/(9)

(2 * 3)/(3 * 3) = (6)/(9)

Here is your new equation:

(7)/(9) + (6)/(9)

Add the fractions:

(7)/(9) + (6)/(9) = (13)/(9)

(13)/(9) is an improper fraction, so you can simplify it.

(13)/(9) \rightarrow 1 (4)/(9)

Your answer is:
1 (4)/(9)

Good luck! If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments!
