Many types of foraminiferans form a symbiotic relationship with algae

Foraminiferans which bulid a round shell made of calcium carbonate are jelly loaded with millions with symbiotic algae. Symbiosis is particularly prevalent in tropical larger benthic foraminifera and planktonic foraminefera. planktonic foramifera have a symbiotic relationship only with two type of algae.
