They are using two different ways to name angles here.

Let's start with the first one. MNL is going to be the same as angle N.

It is vertical to the angle already given (37 degrees). Vertical angles are equal.

MNL = 37 degrees.

The next one is just labeled M, but it could also be called LMN.

To find this angle, you will need to subtract 90 (the right angle) and 37 (angle N) from 180 (because all 3 angles in a triangle equal 180 and we know 2 of them)

180 - 90 - 37 = 53 degrees.

You can find angle MNL by virtue of it being across the 37°. When an angle is across like that from another angle, it means they both have the same degree, so angle MNL is 37°. From there you can find angle M through the fact that a triangle's angles added up together is 180°. Angle L is 90, so we know that the rest is 90°. Then subtract the other angle, MNL, which is 37°, and you get 53°. Thus, Angle M is 53°
