So this is our equation (let n = unknown number):
2n=(1)/(2)n+27

Firstly, subtract 1/2n on both sides of the equation:
(3)/(2)n=27

Next, multiply both sides by 2/3, and your answer will be
n=18

twice a number: 2x

is 27 more than half the number: 1/2x

2x = 1/2x + 27

Isolate the x. Subtract 1/2x from both sides

2x (-1/2x) = 1/2x (-1/2x) + 27

2x - 1/2x = 27

1.5x = 27

Isolate the x. Divide 1.5 from both sides

1.5x/1.5 = 27/1.5

x = 27/1.5

x = 18

18 is the number

hope this helps
