In most cases your ecological footprint has only a very minor impact on the Earth. Multiply that by 7 billion though, and suddenly we’re in the middle of a mass extinction event, radical climate shifts, water shortages, and desertification. This is happening now. The amount of resources you use matters, even if it’s marginally only a very small amount.Lowering your ecological footprint (cut down less trees, don’t use plastic bags, conserve energy, carpool, ride a bike, eat less meat / become a vegetarian, etc) does lesson the human burden on the ecosystem. Influencing your friends to do the same helps too. Multiply that by 7 billion (9 billion pretty soon) and the Earth is doing a lot better.
