In mammals, the weight of the heart is approximately 0.5% of the total body weight. Write a linear model that gives the heart weight in terms of the whole body weight. Use the model to fins

We have weight of heart equal to 0.5 % of body weight.

Let us take x as body weight and y as weight of heart.

We have by equation of line

y = mx+c , here c = 0 since weight of heart = 0 when body wight of mammal = 0

m = 0.5/100 = 0.005

Which means weight of heart for mammals, y = 0.005 * x

In case of humans, we have x = 183 lbs

So weight of heart of humans = 0.005* 183 = 0.915 lbs
