Pamela made a pillowcase with an area of 324 square centimeters. The pillowcase is square-shaped and looks plain. Pamela decided to add a lace trim around the pillow to make it look better. If the lace is sold for $0.98 for every 2 centimeters, then about how much money will Pamela need to purchase the lace? Please show your work.

Because it is a square all 4 sides will be the same length.

To find the length of the side of a square, find the square root of the area:

Side length = √324

Side length = 18 cm.

The perimeter of the pillow is the side length times 4:

18 x 4 = 72 cm.

The lace is sold for $0.98 for every 2 cm.

Divide total cm by 2, then multiply that by the cost:

72 / 2 = 36

36 x 0.98 = $35.28
