Pamela made a pillowcase with an area of 324 square centimeters. The pillowcase is square-shaped and looks plain. Pamela decided to add a lace trim around the pillow to make it look better. If the lace is sold for $0.98 for every 2 centimeters, then about how much money will Pamela need to purchase the lace? Please show your work.

we know that

The area of a square is equal to

A=b^(2)

The perimeter of a square is equal to

P=4b

where

b is the length side of the square

Step 1

Find the length side of the square pillowcase

A=324\ cm^(2)\\ b^(2)=324\\b=√(324)\ cm\\ b=18\ cm

Step 2

Find the perimeter of the square pillowcase

P=4*18

P=72\ cm

Step 3

Find the cost

we know that

the lace is sold for $0.98 for every 2 centimeters

by proportion

(0.98)/(2)(\$)/(cm) = (x)/(72)(\$)/(cm) \\ \\ 2*x=0.98*72\\ \\x=\$ 35.28

therefore

the answer is

\$ 35.28
