f(x)+mx+b\to y=mx+b

We have two points:

(-4,\ -8);\ (0,\ -4)

The point slope form of the line:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)\\\\m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

substitute

m=(-4-(-8))/(0-(-4))=(4)/(4)=1\\\\y-(-8)=1(x-(-4))\\\\y+8=x+4\ \ \ |-8\\\\y=x-4

Answer:

f(x)=x-4
