A. First person
The way to tell if literature is written in first person is by the use of first person pronouns. For instance, if the narrator is talking and there is use of pronouns such as I, me, my, mine, myself, we, us, our, ours, or ourselves, then the piece is written in first person. By simply reading the first line of "The Oasis: Africa," we are able to deduce this:
For eight weary days we had crawled across the burning desert.
