NEED ANSWER NOW PLEASE =)

Read the passage from Elizabethan Women.
At the time, women were required to be utterly subservient to men, given limited education and career choices, and subjected to stringent rules of etiquette and dress. Queen Elizabeth herself is quoted as saying: "Better beggar woman and single than Queen and married." Elizabeth remained single throughout her life because marrying would have meant giving up her autonomy as monarch. The fact that even the queen had to take such measures to protect her access to self-governance illustrates the harsh plight of upper-class women of the time.
According to the passage, of all the areas of an Elizabethan woman's life, the one that was most responsible for the woman's lack of independence was
A. Work
B. Marriage
C. Poverty
D. Royalty

Answer:

B) Marriage

Step-by-step explanation:

It´s a fact that we currently live in a male chauvinist society in all kind of aspects, however In previous times, the women situation was way more complicated, the autonomy and free expression were normally repressed by the people, but this reached the highest point when the women got married.

At this point their technically finalized a part of her life, and started a new one, since the daily days of the women, started to turn around their husbands, giving up all the aspects regarding freedom and independence.

The average husband on those times had a strong power over the wife, the man normally having a social and normal life, and the woman changing and repressing her habits to the maximum expression.

This behavior was reflected too in government scenarios, where the women's power was not comparable to men, normally a woman ruler or queen was there mainly ¨for the image¨, and behind her, other people deciding and interceding for her, so that was a situation that Queen Elizabeth tried to keep away of her life.
