Explanation: Just to elaborate a little on the answer, it can be added that an appeal to emotions is pathos, and an appeal to logic and reason - through a sound argument, for instance - is logos, so options B and D should be discarded. Using personal pronouns is more directed towards appealing to the emotions, so option A should also be discarded. By stressing that it was the right thing to do for the thirteen united States of America to declare their independence from England (note the use of the words "a decent respect to the opinions of mankind"), the authors of the Declaration were clearly appealing to ethos, since they were making an ethical statement.
