Alan bought 3 pencils and notebook. The notebook cost $6, and spent a total of $12. How much did each pencil cost? Use p to represent the cost of each pencil.

I believe the pencils cost $3:00 Because 6 +6 is 12 now if there is just 6, we can go by 2. 2,4,6. Which means his note book cost 6 plus 3 pencils that cost $3:00 equals $12:00

because if the total is worth six, 6 between 2 is 3 and 3p + 6 = 12 -> p = 6 would be represented thus costing $ 2. each pencil
