Here's how I got my answer:

Step 2: Make the denominators the same as the LCD by multiplying 1 and 2, and 2 and 2. Which leaves us with
`3/4 + 2/4`.

Step 3: Add 3 and 2, and leave the denominator the same, to get your answer, 5/4.

Step 4: Convert 5/4 to a mixed fraction, which is 1 1/4

2/4 (or 1/2) + 3/4 = 5/4 gallons of punch
