Hi,

Answer: D) 9x -6

My work: Tomeasily achieve this problem (Perferbably on paper and calculator) by taking 3 and multiplying it with your x and 3. You would this, because whenever there is a variable or number in parentheses next to a number outside of the parentheses you multiply. After multiplying your equation should come out as 12x - 3x -6. After this you combine like terms which are 12x and -3x; which come out as 9x. 9x - 6 would then be your answer! All of this can be worked out in 3 simple steps!

Numerical work:

1. 12x -3(x + 2)

Multiply:

2. 12x -3x -6

Combine like terms:

3. 9x-6

I Hope I Helped!

First, distribute -3 to all terms within the parenthesis

-3(x + 2) = -3x - 6

12x - 3x - 6

Simplify. Combine like terms

(12x -3x) - 6

9x - 6

D) 9x - 6 is your answer

hope this helps
