Response set refers to tendencies among people to state an answer in most flattering or non-offensive way rather than telling an absolute truth about a situation.

Example of a response set would be when we explain to a disabled children why they would never be able to play sports.

Rather than saying 'your leg cant be used properly, so you don't have to waste time playing sport'

We tend to say things like 'sport is not the most important things in the world, a lot of people have more fun in things such as music or Arts so may be you should try it out'
