Let d is the number of days and c is the cost to rent

Lets find the difference in the cost of rent

50-34=16

66-50=16

82-66=16

Difference is a constant. so we use linear equation y=mx+b

m is the constant rate, x is our d and y is our 'c' cost

The equation becomes


c=16d +b

To find out 'b' we use first row in the table

Plug in 1 for d and 34 for c


34=16(1) +b


34=16+b, subtract 16 from both sides


b=18

Function rule is


c=16d +18
