Here we are given that we have a line segment LT measuring 16 cm.

We are also given that O is exactly in the middle of this line segment LT.

So Middle of LT that is O will be at 8, since half of 16 is 8.

So we can say that O will be at 8 cm.

Now since O is at the middle, so

LO=8cm

OT=8cm

So both the line segments LO and OT will be of 8 cm.

The explanation can be understood more easily as shown in the figure.

Answer: O will be at 8 cm

LO = OT = 8cm.

Hope this helps.

O is in the mid of LT

LT = 16 cm

Since O is in the mid of LT, it is right at the centre of LT, and divides LT in 2 parts

⇒ LO = OT =
(LT)/(2)

⇒ LO = OT =
(16)/(2)

⇒ LO = OT = 8 cm

Hence, O is 8 cms away from L or 8 cms away from T.
