Hybrid car batteries contain the rare elements neodymium and lanthanum. These substances are D. recyclable and nonrenewable. The batteries have a label on the bottom or the side indicating whether it is recyclable or not. The batteries that are recyclable are stripped of their electrolyte and electrodes in a recycling plant. These two rare elements are then extracted out from the electrolyte and recycled for use.
