First you stop the burning immediately and remove all constrictive clothing.

second, you call 911 IF the burn penetrates all layers of the skin. If skin looks leathery or charred with white, brown, or black patches. If hands, feet, face, or genitals are burned. If the person is an infant or a senior.

The immediate risk is permanent damage to the area that was burned.
